BINGO! A
classic game of chance. Though you may think of an older
generation in a community center, Bingo is an easy game to
learn and play, and present in nearly all casinos. Lovers of
Bingo would also enjoy Keno, Slots, and Sweepstakes and are
probably already players of the Lottery. The basis is easy-
you may play one or more (playing up to thirty cards is not
unusual, as the more cards you have, the more chances you have
to win) cards, which are physical cardboard pieces or
electronic representations when gambling online. They are 5x5
matrices of numbers ranging from 1 to 75. To win Bingo, the
player have a card that makes a winning pattern of called
numbers. The most traditional pattern is a straight line in
any direction, but just as technology allows more winning
lines for slots, online versions of Bingo can be very creative
in their patterns. When a pattern is achieved, the player must
verbally call out “BINGO!” (or push the Bingo button online)
to alert other players of the win. When it has been confirmed
by the caller, the winnings are distributed, and a new game
begins.
Numbers are drawn at random. A non-player is the caller; he or
she chooses a numbered ball at random from a jumbled (often
spinning) collection of numbered balls. When a ball is chosen,
it’s number and letter are read aloud to players. Players will
then mark the called number if they possess it on any of their
cards; sometimes with ink, others prefer chips. Online, the
player may choose to manually check off called numbers, or
have the computer do so automatically. The principal element
of skill in the game is to scan cards for winning combinations
more quickly than other players, and make such call
appropriately.
Traditional Bingo designates a win by a line across 5 numbers
in any direction. However, for game alternatives that allow
other patterns, they can mean a greater or lesser win. Other
winning combinations include a Black-Out, which is also known
as a Cover-All or Full Card, and means that all numbers on the
card have been called. Online versions offer perks such as
Best Card Highlighting,” during which all players can see who
is closest to Bingo. Chat options are also available online to
simulate the sense of community and interaction you would find
in a live game. |
